Australia Strengthens Biosecurity Enforcement Measures in 2026

The Australian Government has confirmed enhanced biosecurity enforcement measures across airports, seaports, and international mail centres in 2026. Increased inspections and stronger compliance monitoring are being implemented to address emerging biosecurity threats and protect Australia’s agricultural sector.

According to DAFF, the expanded enforcement program focuses on early detection of high-risk goods, improved screening processes, and increased penalties for non-compliance. Importers are reminded that inaccurate declarations or undeclared goods may result in delays, fines, or prosecution.
